We tried permanent friendship bracelets, here’s why you and your bestie should too!

Love Weld is a New York City based brand that takes friendship bracelets to another level: the bracelets are not only real 14 karat gold, but they are literally welded onto the wrist, making them permanent. My sister and I decided to try out the brand on Saturday in Chelsea Market, NYC. As we walked to Chelsea Market, we wondered what the experience would be like, what types of bracelets we’d end up choosing, and even how long the appointment would take. We had so many questions, and I’m here to tell you about the experience so you and your bestie can get your own permanent bling!  Where can I get my own Love Weld bracelet?

Love Weld has locations all over the country! There are two spots right in NYC, but they are also located in Texas, California, New Mexico, Colorado, Washington D.C., and Louisiana!

What can I expect at my appointment?

When my sister and I walked into our appointment, we immediately found two women sitting at a table ready to weld our bracelets. The ladies had all types of beautiful gold and silver jewelry laid across the table with price tags to show how much each piece would cost. Upon sitting down and after a lot of thought about which bracelet we wanted on our wrists forever, we decided on a dainty gold chain, so thin that it could pass as a piece of golden floss!

How long do the bracelets stay on your body?

Since the bracelets are quite literally welded, they will stay on your body for a very long time. It is possible that the bracelet will tear off with vigorous tugging or if cut with a tool, however it is unlikely that the bracelet will break unless it is deliberately torn off!

Pictured above is the welding process, as you can see, a protective leather strip is placed between the tool and my skin. Pliers are used to hold the chain together while heat from the welding tool melts the metal together.

What was the welding process like?

The welding process was fast and easy, and to be honest, very satisfying! First, a leather strip was place between our wrists and the bracelet to protect our skin from the welding device. Once our hands were safe, a machine was used to melt the metal and seal the bracelet shut. It looked like the machine was zapping the chain, and when each end was finally welded together, our technician gave it a final test tug to ensure everything was in place.

The end result was beautiful! My sister and I were ecstatic with our new pieces, and it made it so much more special to know that we had gotten them together. While Love Weld is on the pricier side, it was definitely worth it to share such a meaningful experience with someone who is very important to me, and not to mention, the bracelets are absolutely gorgeous. If you and your own BFF want to amp up your friendship bracelets, I 100% recommend paying Love Weld a visit, you won’t be disappointed!
