self tanning drops: the new thing?

By: Leah Perugini

If you’re anything like me, you know that summer is the best season for your skin. Nothing beats the golden glow of a natural tan, but what about the people that wanna keep their summer glow year round? Sure there are tanning beds, but, let’s be real, no one wants to put themselves at risk of premature wrinkles, or much worse: skin cancer. Spray tans leave you orange and sticky, and they can also break your wallet. The answer we’ve all been waiting for: self-tanning drops. Self-tanning drops are a serum that, once mixed with a moisturizer, is applied to the face and body to gradually give your skin that deep summer glow, even in October!

I’ve tried two brands of self-tanning: Tan Luxe and Jergens. Both were amazing, but if your on the fence about which one to choose, I’m here to help!

The first brand I tested out was Tan Luxe. Tan Luxe sells for $25.00 per .3 ounce bottle. While this is on the pricier side, I think the brand proved it’s worth. The first thing I noticed when I got my Tan-Luxe drops was the packaging that it came in.

The drops come in a tiny white cylinder, which I thought was so adorable and neat for keeping them organized with the other items in my skin routine.

When I removed the packaging I saw that the drops come in a cute glass bottle, the packaging is very high end and durable. It looks classy.

The product smelled so good. Self-tanner is usually potent smelling and can leave your skin smelling like chemicals for hours after application, but Tan-Luxe smelled warm with notes of vanilla.

It applied easily, however I found that I went through the bottle way faster than I imagined. I ran out after a few weeks of using it.

The products’ finish on my skin was smooth and not splotchy at all. The tan was natural and glow-like, and it lasted for several days after each application. I loved the way it looked under my makeup! Overall, the product is expensive, but I found it to be worth the cost.

The second brand I tried was the Sol Jergens Self Tanning Drops. These drops have just hit the shelves, and while I love Tan-Luxe, I think these have to be my favorite.

To start, you get more bang for your buck! Jergens’ drops are only $20.00, and you can get them for much cheaper on Amazon, and, you get way more product in each bottle! Every bottle contains a full ounce of self-tan drops!

The bottle is so pretty! It’s bright and fun and I love the way it looks on my shelf.

The application is just as easy as the Tan Luxe drops, you just add a few droplets to your daily moisturizer, and the tan develops over time. There were a couple splotches at first, but I think it was due to me rushing during the application, however the next time I applied it I achieved the perfect tan.

I definitely recommend both brands if you want to keep your skin looking tan and gorgeous year round, but if you are on a budget, the Sol Jergens’ Tanning Drops are the choice for you.
